Paramātma-Svarūpa-Nirṇaya: Strī–Puṃ–Napuṃsaka-Vicāra
Inquiry into the Supreme Self and Gendered Forms
यथैन्द्रजालिकस्यापि योगिनो न भवेद्भ्रमः । गुरुणा ज्ञापितैश्वर्यश्शिवो भवति चिद्धनः
yathaindrajālikasyāpi yogino na bhavedbhramaḥ | guruṇā jñāpitaiśvaryaśśivo bhavati ciddhanaḥ
Just as a yogin is not deluded by an illusionist’s tricks, so too, when the Guru makes known Śiva’s Lordship, Śiva is realized as the very wealth of Consciousness—pure, luminous Awareness itself.
Suta Goswami (narrating the Kailasha Samhita teaching to the sages at Naimisharanya)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Role: teaching
It teaches that true knowledge of Shiva is not a mental trick or imagination: when the Guru reveals Shiva’s aiśvarya (supreme lordship), delusion falls away and Shiva is realized as cit—pure Consciousness—leading the seeker toward moksha.
Linga and Saguna worship steady the mind and purify devotion; through the Guru’s instruction, the devotee recognizes that the worshipped Shiva is not merely a form among forms but the Pati whose essence is Consciousness, transcending māyā while graciously appearing in form.
Guru-guided japa and dhyāna: repeat the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with focused contemplation that Shiva is cit (awareness) and not an object of illusion; maintain Shaiva disciplines such as bhasma (Tripuṇḍra) and Rudraksha as supports if part of one’s tradition.
