गजाननपूजा तथा औपासन-होमविधिः
Worship of Gajānana and the Procedure of Aupāsana-Homa
द्विषट्प्रकारं स गुरुं प्रणमेद्भुवि दण्डवत् । तदधीनो भवेन्नित्यं नान्यत्कर्म्म समाचरेत्
dviṣaṭprakāraṃ sa guruṃ praṇamedbhuvi daṇḍavat | tadadhīno bhavennityaṃ nānyatkarmma samācaret
In the prescribed manner, one should bow to the Guru upon the earth like a staff—by full prostration. Ever remaining under the Guru’s guidance and authority, one should not undertake any other action independently.
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Significance: Establishes guru-bhakti and obedience as the ‘adhikāra’ for Śiva-sādhana; without this, pilgrimage/rituals are considered spiritually unripe.
It teaches that progress in Shiva’s path depends on humility and surrender to the Guru, whose guidance disciplines the paśu (bound soul) and aligns one’s life with Shiva’s grace rather than ego-driven action.
Linga-worship and Saguna Shiva devotion are to be performed according to śāstra and dīkṣā; the verse emphasizes that correct practice, mantra, and observance are received and safeguarded through obedience to the Guru.
Daṇḍavat praṇāma (full prostration) to the Guru and steady adherence to the Guru-given sādhana—typically japa (often the Panchākṣarī), pūjā, and disciplined conduct—without self-willed deviations.
