O lord among sages, let the entire assemblage of tattvas—from earth upward, up to Śiva—be purified by dissolving each into its own causal source, through the pathway of reabsorption into the cause.
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pasha
Cosmic Event: laya (reabsorption) as microcosmic analogue of pralaya
It teaches inner purification (śuddhi) by reversing manifestation: the seeker withdraws the mind from gross to subtle, dissolving each tattva into its causal source until awareness rests in Śiva—the Pati beyond bondage.
Saguna worship (such as Linga-upāsanā) steadies devotion and concentration, and that collected awareness is then led inward through laya—so external worship becomes the support for internal reabsorption culminating in Śiva.
A laya-based meditation: withdraw attention from the elements (earth onward) into subtler causes while maintaining Shiva-bhāva; in practice this is commonly supported by japa of the Panchākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and contemplative dissolution (saṃhāra-bhāvanā).
