Worship of Gajānana and the Procedure of Aupāsana-Homa
महेशादिचतुर्व्यूहमन्त्रांश्च प्रजपेत्पुनः । हुत्वोपरिष्टात्तन्त्रन्तु स्वशाखोक्तेन वर्त्मना
maheśādicaturvyūhamantrāṃśca prajapetpunaḥ | hutvopariṣṭāttantrantu svaśākhoktena vartmanā
Then, once again, he should repeatedly recite the mantras of the fourfold divine emanations beginning with Maheśa; and after offering oblations, he should thereafter perform the tantric rite according to the procedure taught in his own Vedic branch (śākhā).

It teaches disciplined worship: mantra-japa and homa, performed in an ordered way, align the devotee (paśu) to the grace of Pati (Shiva), making the mind fit for purification and liberation-oriented devotion.
By prescribing mantra repetition and fire-offering as formal upacāras, it supports Saguna Shiva worship—approaching Shiva with name, mantra, and rite—so devotion becomes steady and the worship becomes scripturally grounded.
Repeated japa of Maheśa-related mantras, followed by homa (oblations), and then continuing the rite according to one’s authorized traditional procedure (sva-śākhā/ācāra).
