Vāmadeva-mata: Rahasya-upadeśa
The Esoteric Teaching of Vāmadeva’s Doctrine
वामदेवकृतं स्तोत्रम्परमार्थविजृम्भितम् । श्रुत्वाभवत्प्रसन्नो हि महे श्वरसुतः प्रभुः
vāmadevakṛtaṃ stotramparamārthavijṛmbhitam | śrutvābhavatprasanno hi mahe śvarasutaḥ prabhuḥ
Hearing the hymn composed by Vāmadeva—unfolding the highest truth—the Lord, the mighty son of Maheśvara, became truly pleased.

Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Significance: Frames stotra as a vehicle for ‘paramārtha’ (highest purport): when praise aligns with tattva-jñāna, it becomes a direct occasion for divine prasāda (grace).
Type: stotra
Role: teaching
It teaches that when praise is rooted in paramārtha (true understanding of Pati, paśu, and pāśa), devotion becomes spiritually potent, drawing the Lord’s prasāda (grace) and uplifting the soul toward liberation.
A stotra is a Saguna mode of worship—approaching Shiva through name, form, and divine qualities—yet when it ‘reveals the highest truth,’ it also points beyond form to Shiva as the supreme Reality who bestows grace through accessible worship like Linga-pūjā and hymn-recitation.
Regular stotra-pāṭha (hymn recitation) with meaning (bhāva and jñāna together) is implied; it may be paired with Panchākṣarī japa (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and simple Shiva-upāsanā to seek prasāda and inner purification.
