Vāmadeva-mata: Rahasya-upadeśa
The Esoteric Teaching of Vāmadeva’s Doctrine
कुमारं शिखरासीनं मुनिवृन्दनिषेवितम् । उद्यदादित्यसंकाशं मयूरवरवाहनम्
kumāraṃ śikharāsīnaṃ munivṛndaniṣevitam | udyadādityasaṃkāśaṃ mayūravaravāhanam
They beheld Kumāra (Kārttikeya), seated upon a lofty peak and attended by multitudes of sages—radiant like the rising sun, and borne upon his excellent mount, the peacock.
Suta Goswami (narrating to the sages of Naimisharanya)
Tattva Level: pati
The verse highlights Kumāra’s luminous, saguna divinity—his radiance and sage-attendance signify spiritual authority, purity, and dharmic leadership under Lord Shiva’s grace.
While the Liṅga is the nirguṇa-saguṇa bridge of Shiva, this verse emphasizes saguna reverence: honoring Shiva’s manifested powers through his son Skanda, who embodies Shiva’s protective and dharma-establishing energy.
A practical takeaway is dhyāna (meditation) on the radiant form of Kumāra as Shiva’s śakti in action, accompanied by japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” dedicating the merit to Shiva and his divine household.
