Mahāpārśva-vadhaḥ — The Slaying of Mahāpārśva (Angada’s Counterstrike)
स तुक्षिप्तोबलवतापरिघन्तस्यरक्षसः ।।।।धनुश्चसशरंहस्ताछचिरस्त्रांचाप्यपातयत् ।
sa tu kṣipto balavatā parighas tasya rakṣasaḥ |
dhanuś ca saśaraṃ hastāc chirastrāṇi cāpy apātayat ||
But that iron club, hurled with great force, made the Rākṣasa drop from his hand his bow with its arrows, and it also knocked down his head-gear.
That iron bar hurled by Angada hit the forehead of the Rakshasa.
A dharmic response in conflict often aims first at neutralizing harm—here, disarming the opponent—rather than needless cruelty.
Aṅgada’s thrown club strikes effectively, causing Mahāpārśva to lose his weapon and head protection.
