महोदरवधः (The Slaying of Mahodara)
प्रभग्नांसमरेदृष्टवावानराणांमहाचमूम् ।अभिदुद्रावसुग्रीवोमहोदरमनन्तरम् ।।6.98.11।।
prabhagnān samare dṛṣṭvā vānarāṇāṃ mahācamūm |
abhidudrāva sugrīvo mahodaram anantaram ||6.98.11||
Seeing the great vānara host broken in the fight, Sugrīva immediately rushed toward Mahodara.
Seeing the great army of Vanaras defeated in the conflict, Sugriva rushed towards Mahodara.
A leader’s dharma is to confront the source of harm and protect the community, especially when allies are faltering.
Sugrīva observes the vānaras being routed and advances to engage Mahodara directly.
Courage and responsibility in leadership—Sugrīva does not abandon his troops.
