सप्तनवतितमः सर्गः (Yuddha Kāṇḍa 97): Sugrīva’s Onslaught and the Fall of Virūpākṣa

सुग्रीवस्तान्कपीन्दृष्टवाभग्नान्विद्रावितान्रणे ।गुल्मेसुषेणंनिक्षिप्यचक्रेयुद्धेऽद्भुतंमनः ।।।।

Transliteration

vivṛttanayanaṃ krodhāt saphenaṃ rudhirāplutam |

dadṛśus te virūpākṣaṃ virūpākṣataraṃ kṛtam ||

Translation

They beheld Virūpākṣa—his eyes rolling with rage, foam upon his mouth and breath, drenched in blood—made yet more hideous by the violence of his fall.

Seeing the defeated and broken monkeys, Sugriva assigned Sushena for their protection and went to the battle making others wonder at his wonderful action.
