सप्तनवतितमः सर्गः (Yuddha Kāṇḍa 97): Sugrīva’s Onslaught and the Fall of Virūpākṣa
स तांशिलामापतन्तींदृष्टवाराक्षसपुङ्गवः ।अपक्रम्यसुविक्रान्तःखडगेनप्राहरत्तदा ।।।।
sa tāṃ śilām āpatantīṃ dṛṣṭvā rākṣasapuṅgavaḥ |
apakramya suvikrāntaḥ khaḍgena prāharat tadā ||
Then, seeing that boulder hurtling toward him, the exceedingly valiant Rākṣasa leader stepped aside and struck it with his sword.
Then that exceedingly powerful Rakshasa leader, seeing the rock falling, struck it with a sword, jumping.
In the context of the 97th Sarga of the Yuddhakanda (Southern Recension), this epithet refers to Virupaksha, a mighty Rakshasa commander fighting against Sugriva.
The verse illustrates high agility and swordsmanship, as the warrior evades a massive projectile (boulder) by stepping aside ('apakramya') and neutralizing it with a sword strike.
