न्यग्रोध-प्रवेश-निवारणम् (Preventing Indrajit’s Banyan-Tree Rite) / Indrajit Confronts Vibhishana
महर्षीणांवधोघोरस्सर्वदेवैश्चविग्रहः ।।6.87.24।।अभिमानश्चदोषश्चवैरित्वंप्रतिकूलता ।एतेदोषाममभ्रातुर्जीवितैश्वर्यनाशनाः ।।6.87.25।।गुणान्प्रच्छादयामासुःपर्वतानिवतोयदाः ।
abhimānaś ca doṣaś ca vairitvaṃ pratikūlatā |
ete doṣā mama bhrātur jīvitaiśvarya-nāśanāḥ ||6.87.25||
Pride, wrongdoing, enmity, and contrariness—these very faults are ruinous to my brother’s life and sovereignty.
"Dreadful killing of sages, haughtiness towards deities, irascibility, anger, animosity, refractorinessall these faults will put an end to one's life. These faults have obscured my brother's future just as rainy clouds veil the mountain."
It presents an ethical warning central to Dharma: inner vices—pride, wrongdoing, hostility, and obstinate opposition—lead to the collapse of life and rightful authority, showing that adharma destroys both character and kingship.
