इन्द्रजितो मायासीतावधः — Indrajit’s Illusory Sita Episode and Hanuman’s Rebuke
सःतांबाणसहस्रेणविक्षोभ्यहरिवाहिनीम् ।।।।हनूमन्तंहरिश्रेष्ठमिन्द्रजित् प्रत्युवाच ह ।
saḥ tāṃ bāṇasahasreṇa vikṣobhya harivāhinīm | hanūmantaṃ hariśreṣṭham indrajit pratyuvāca ha ||
Having thrown the Vānara host into turmoil with a thousand arrows, Indrajit then spoke in reply to Hanumān, the foremost of monkeys.
Indrajith shattered the army of monkeys with a thousand arrows. Hanuman the foremost Vanara replied to them as follows.
Power in war is morally judged by its purpose; martial skill used to support adharma is not dharmic merit.
Indrajit disrupts the Vānara forces with heavy archery and then addresses Hanumān directly.
On the surface, prowess; by implication, the need for yuddha-nīti (ethical war conduct) and right intent.
