Shloka 6.66.2

कुम्भकर्णप्रस्थानम् तथा अङ्गदप्रेरणा (Kumbhakarna’s sortie and Angada’s rallying of the Vanaras)

ननाद च महानादंसमुद्रमभिनादयन् ।विजयन्निवनिर्घातन्विधमन्निवपर्वतान् ।।।।

nanāda ca mahānādaṃ samudram abhinādayan |

vijayann iva nirghātān vidhamann iva parvatān ||

He roared a mighty roar, making the ocean resound—like thunder proclaiming victory, like a force that shatters mountains.

Kumbhakarna roared making loud noises as if proclaiming victory, like the breaking of mountains and reverberating of ocean.

K
Kumbhakarṇa
O
Ocean (samudra)
M
Mountains (parvata)

The verse frames the battlefield as a test of inner steadiness: external terror (overwhelming power and noise) should not derail one’s commitment to righteous duty.

Kumbhakarṇa announces his presence with a colossal roar that shakes the surroundings and intimidates opponents.

Implicitly, fortitude—heroes must remain composed even when confronted by awe-inspiring force.
