कुम्भकर्णस्य प्रबोधनम् — The Awakening and Commissioning of Kumbhakarna
तदेतत्सर्वमातिष्ठवीर्यंभीमपराक्रम ।।6.62.22।।न हितेसर्वभूतेषुदृश्यतेसदृशोबली ।
bhrātus sa bhavanaṁ gacchan rakṣogaṇa-samanvitam |
kumbhakarṇaḥ pada-nyāsair akampayat medinīm ||6.62.5||
As Kumbhakarṇa proceeded to his brother’s mansion accompanied by hosts of Rākṣasas, the earth itself trembled beneath the weight of his strides.
"O Brother of fierce valour! Get up. I have not seen anyone stronger than you among all beings."
Power is portrayed as immense, but the epic’s dharma-teaching is that strength must be governed by right purpose; mere might is not moral legitimacy.
Kumbhakarṇa advances toward Rāvaṇa’s residence with an escort, displaying overwhelming physical force.
Vīrya (martial prowess/strength) is emphasized—an ability that becomes ethically meaningful only when aligned with dharma.
