कुम्भकर्णदर्शनम् — The Appearance of Kumbhakarna and the Account of His Might
आचक्षवसुमहान् कोऽसौरक्षोवायदिवाऽसुरः ।न मयैवंविधंभूतंदृष्टपूर्वंकदाचन ।।6.61.7।।
yena vaivasvato yuddhe vāsavaś ca parājitaḥ |
saiṣa viśravasaḥ putraḥ kumbhakarṇaḥ pratāpavān ||6.61.9||
asya pramāṇasadṛśo rākṣaso'nyo na vidyate |
“It was by him that Vaivasvata (Yama) in battle, and even Vāsava (Indra), were defeated. This is Kumbhakarṇa, the mighty son of Viśravas; among rākṣasas none other is known to equal him in sheer size.”
"Who is he, that gigantic Rakshasa? Is he a demon or perhaps a colossus? No such being was seen by me earlier."
Dharma here is satya in counsel: Vibhīṣaṇa gives accurate identification and sober assessment of the foe, enabling righteous strategy rather than reckless pride.
