Unable to ward off the dreadful volleys of arrows from that rākṣasa, the mighty one endured them, receiving the blows with eyes closed.

Not able to check the volley of arrows released by the Rakshasa, Nila received them with closed eyes.

N
Nīla
P
Prahastha

Patient endurance in duty (kṣānti): when immediate defense fails, steadfastness and composure preserve one’s purpose rather than panic.

Prahastha’s arrow-rain overwhelms Nīla’s ability to block; Nīla absorbs the attack, eyes shut, holding his ground.

Forbearance and steadfast courage in Nīla.
