सुपर्णागमनम् (Garuda’s Arrival and the Release from the Serpent-Arrow Bond)
सातुनीलेनविधिवत्स्वारक्षासुसमाहिता ।सागरस्योत्तरेतीरेसाधुसेनानिवेशिता ।।6.5.1।।
ity evam uktvā vacanaṃ suparṇaḥ śīghra-vikramaḥ |
rāmaṃ ca virujaṃ kṛtvā madhye teṣāṃ vanaukasām ||
pradakṣiṇaṃ tataḥ kṛtvā pariṣvajya ca vīryavān |
jagāma ākāśam āviśya suparṇaḥ pavano yathā ||
Having spoken thus, Suparṇa—swift in his flight—restored Rāma to a state free from affliction amid the forest-dwellers. Then the valiant one, after reverently circumambulating Rāma and embracing him, rose into the sky and departed like the wind.
Having spoken to Rama in that manner, Suparna endowed with wind speed in flight embraced Rama and went around him as a mark of reverence and soared into the sky.
Dharma is expressed as reverence and right conduct: Suparṇa not only helps Rāma but also honors him through pradakṣiṇā and embrace—showing that power should be guided by humility and respect for righteousness.
After assisting Rāma (and the Vānara host) by removing a grave affliction caused in battle, Suparṇa respectfully takes leave and departs into the sky.
Suparṇa’s virtue is protective strength joined with maryādā (propriety): swift aid, followed by reverential conduct toward the righteous hero.
