Both the heroic Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa were struck all over by the enraged Indrajit with arrows that had taken the form of serpents.
The Vanaras were mangled with iron arrows, however endowed with high speed they could not make out Indrajith in utter darkness just as the sun covered by clouds.
The episode frames dharma as resilience when confronted by overwhelming and uncanny force; righteousness may be bound, but not morally defeated.
Indrajit uses serpent-form arrows, leaving both brothers pierced across their bodies.
Heroic endurance (vīrya and dhairya) in the face of extraordinary weapons.
