Rāma, Daśaratha’s son—heroic, with Lakṣmaṇa following him—took up position at Laṅkā, the city ruled by Rāvaṇa.
(Dasaratha's son) Rama who had Lakshmana as follower reached the northern gate protected by Ravana. Just as the ocean is guarded by Varuna, it was guarded by terrific Rakshasas, who were secretly hiding all over like the Rakshasas in the subterranean region with small amounts of numerous armours for protection. It was not possible for anyone other than Rama to enter.
Dharma here is steadfastness in righteous purpose: Rāma advances with disciplined resolve, not for conquest but to restore justice and recover Sītā.
The vānara-led alliance has reached Laṅkā; Rāma takes position as the battle for the city is about to be organized.
Rāma’s maryādā (measured, rightful conduct) and leadership—moving forward with order and purpose, accompanied by loyal Lakṣmaṇa.
