Shloka 6.36.20

माल्यवानुपदेशः—रावणक्रोधः तथा लङ्काद्वाररक्षा-व्यवस्था (Malyavan’s Counsel, Ravana’s Anger, and the Fortification of Lanka)

राक्षसांतुविरूपाक्षंमहावीर्यपराक्रमम् ।मध्यमेऽस्थापयद्गुल्मेबहुभिस्सहराक्षसैः ।।।।

hitabuddhyāya dahitaṃ vacaḥ paruṣam ucyate | parapakṣaṃ praniśyaiva naitac chrotragataṃ mama || 6.36.3 ||

“With a pretence of good sense, you have spoken harsh words that do not serve my good, as though you had taken the enemy’s side. I will not let such talk enter my ears.”

In the middle of the city, he placed Virupaksha, a Rakshasa endowed with extraordinary strength and many more Rakshasas.

Dharma here highlights the duty to hear truthful, well-intended counsel; rejecting it out of ego and suspicion leads toward adharma.

Rāvaṇa rebukes a counselor who has advised him against his course, accusing him of siding with the enemy and refusing to listen.

By contrast (implicitly), the virtue of receptivity to satya (truthful counsel) and humility is emphasized—qualities Rāvaṇa is failing to show.
