Let Maithilī be returned to the lord of men with due honor. The astonishing deed at Jana-sthāna is proof enough for you of what follows from provoking him.
"Let Mythili be given back to the ruler of the people (Rama) offering good hospitality. The (killing of fourteen thousand Rakshasas) amazing performance at Janasthana by Rama should serve as sufficient proof to you (of the consequences)."
Restitution and respect: wrongdoing should be corrected by returning what was unlawfully taken, with honor—an essential step back toward dharma.
Saramā conveys the counsel that Rāvaṇa should return Sītā to Rāma, pointing to past consequences at Jana-sthāna as a warning.
Moral realism and accountability: the counsel stresses learning from precedent and accepting consequences of unjust actions.
