मायाशिरोप्रदर्शनम् (The Display of the Illusory Head of Rāma)

जाम्बवानथजानुभ्यामुत्पतन्निहतोयुधि ।पट्टसैर्बहुभिश्छिन्नोनिकृत्तःपादपोयथा ।।।।

sugrīvo grīnayā sīte bhagnayā plavagādhipaḥ | nirasta-hanukaḥ śete hanumān rākṣasair hataḥ ||

O Sītā! Sugrīva, lord of the vānara-s, lies with his neck broken; and Hanumān lies with his jaw shattered—slain by the rākṣasas.

And while Jambavan was rising on his knees, he was struck by many iron bars in comb at and had fallen down like a tree.

The verse showcases adharma through intimidation and false/demoralizing speech; dharma upholds satya and forbids cruelty aimed at breaking the innocent.

A hostile report is framed as if spoken to Sītā, claiming the principal vānara leaders have been killed, to weaken her hope and resolve.

Sītā’s steadfastness is implied: she is tested by frightening claims and must hold to truth, hope, and fidelity.
