Mahodara, Mahāpārśva, and the rākṣasa Akampana—these are his commanders in the ranks, formidable in war like the very guardians of the worlds.

"Mahodara, Mahaparsva, Akampana are Rakshasas who are like the guards of the world. They are the commanders of his (Ravana's) army."

Power and rank do not equal righteousness. The verse frames enemy strength realistically, reminding a dharmic warrior to respect capability without conceding moral ground.

Vibhīṣaṇa identifies key commanders in Rāvaṇa’s army and characterizes their battle prowess for Rāma’s strategic awareness.

Prudence and preparedness—knowing the adversary’s leaders is part of responsible, dharmic leadership in war.
