विभीषणागमनम्
Vibhīṣaṇa’s Arrival and the Debate on Refuge
इत्युक्त्वापरुषंवाक्यंरावणंरावणानुजः ।आजगाममुहूर्तेनयत्ररामस्सलक्ष्मणः ।।6.17.1।।
ity uktvā paruṣaṃ vākyaṃ rāvaṇaṃ rāvaṇānujaḥ | ājagāma muhūrtena yatra rāmaḥ salakṣmaṇaḥ ||
Having thus spoken harsh words to Rāvaṇa, his younger brother reached, within a short while, the place where Rāma stood with Lakṣmaṇa.
Vibheeshana, having addressed Ravana in harsh language, reached Rama and Lakshmana in a short while.
Choosing dharma over loyalty to wrongdoing: Vibhīṣaṇa breaks with adharma and moves toward the righteous side.
After rebuking Rāvaṇa, Vibhīṣaṇa departs Laṅkā and approaches Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa.
Moral courage—speaking truth even harshly when needed, and acting decisively upon one’s convictions.
