Shloka 6.15.11
विभीषण–इन्द्रजित् संवादः (Vibhishana and Indrajit: Counsel, Boast, and Rebuttal)
त्वमेववध्यश्चसुदुर्मतिश्चसचापिवध्योयइहाऽनयत्त्वाम् ।बालंदृढंसाहसिकंचयोऽद्यप्रावेशयन्मन्त्रकृतांसमीपम् ।।6.15.11।।
sattvena vīryeṇa parākrameṇa śauryeṇa dhairyeṇa ca tejasā ca | ekaḥ kule 'smin puruṣo vimukto vibhīṣaṇas tāta-kaniṣṭha eṣaḥ ||6.15.3||
“In this lineage, there is only one man who is bereft of strength, valor, prowess, heroism, courage, and splendor—this Vibhīṣaṇa, my father’s younger brother.”
"You who are evil minded, deserve to be killed. The one who brought you here is young and loves you to make bold attempts. He is polluting your mind and deserves to be killed."
It indirectly teaches that speech can become adharma when it turns into contempt and humiliation; dharma requires truthful speech that is also beneficial and disciplined.
Indrajit publicly disparages Vibhīṣaṇa, framing his dissent as cowardice and lack of warrior qualities.
The verse foregrounds ‘vīrya’ and ‘dhairya’ as warrior-virtues, but it also serves as a cautionary example: valor without ethical restraint becomes arrogance.
