अयोध्याप्रत्यागमन-सन्देशः (Hanuman Sent Ahead to Ayodhya)
वसन्तंदण्डकारण्येयंत्वंचीरजटाधरम् ।।।।अनुशोचसिकाकुत्स्थं स त्वांकौशलमब्रवीत् ।
vasantaṃ daṇḍakāraṇye yaṃ tvaṃ cīra-jaṭā-dharam |
anuśocasi kākutsthaṃ sa tvāṃ kauśalam abravīt ||
He whom you mourn—Kākutstha (Rāma), dwelling in the Daṇḍaka forest, clad in bark-cloth and wearing matted locks—has sent you word of his well-being.
"That Kakuthsa for whom you are worrying and living as he was at Dandaka forest with bark tree fabric, and matted hair sent me to tell you about his welfare."
It presents truthful reassurance: the messenger conveys Rāma’s real condition and well-being, emphasizing reliable speech and faithful transmission of words.
These are marks of ascetic exile accepted for the sake of duty; they underline Rāma’s adherence to dharma even in hardship, which becomes the moral basis for comforting Sītā.
