पुष्पकविमान-प्रस्थानम् (The Pushpaka Vimāna Offered and the Return Prepared)
स तुताम्यतिधर्मात्माममहेतोस्सुखोचितः ।सुकुमारोमहाबाहोकुमार: सत्यसंश्रयः ।।।।
taṃ vinā kaikayīputraṃ bharataṃ dharmacāriṇam |
na me snānaṃ bahumataṃ vastrāṇy ābharaṇāni ca ||6.124.6||
Without Bharata—the son of Kaikeyī, who walks in dharma—bathing is not dear to me, nor are garments and ornaments.
"Mighty armed Bharata, righteous, giving up comforts of delicate body, resorting to truth is distressed for my cause."
Dharma as restraint and empathy: Rāma refuses personal celebration when a dhārmic loved one (Bharata) is absent and suffering for his sake.
In response to preparations for ceremonial bathing and adornment, Rāma states he does not value such comforts without Bharata present.
Rāma’s self-control and moral sensitivity—he prioritizes relational duty and shared righteousness over personal pleasure.
