सीताया अग्निप्रवेशः (Sita’s Ordeal by Fire / Agni-Pariksha)
प्रेषितस्तेमहावीरोहनुमानवलोककः ।लङ्कास्थाहंत्वयाराजन्किंतदा न विसर्जिता ।।।।
preṣitas te mahāvīro hanūmān avalokakaḥ |
laṅkā-sthā 'haṁ tvayā rājan kiṁ tadā na visarjitā ||
O King! When you sent the great hero Hanūmān as a scout to find me while I was in Laṅkā, why did you not renounce me then, if doubt was truly your stance?
"King! When the great hero Hanuman was sent by you to find me in Lanka, why did you not leave me then."
Dharma as consistency and fairness: Sītā questions the morality of accepting her rescue and war-effort if her character was to be doubted; ethical judgment should not be opportunistic.
