If you permit it, I wish to slay all these rākṣasī women who once threatened and tormented you.

The monkey, having sought the permission of Vibheeshana, entered Lanka city. Duly entering the Asoka grove, he attracted the attention of Sita, who was weak with no bath, cheerless, seated at the root of the tree, like Rohini star. After reaching the grove, he greeted Sita with folded palms and stood motionless.

Power is subordinated to moral authorization: Hanumān seeks Sītā’s consent, implying that even ‘just anger’ must be guided by dharma and rightful permission.

Hanumān, moved by Sītā’s suffering, proposes punishing the rākṣasī tormentors.

Hanumān’s protective loyalty, tempered by restraint and deference to Sītā’s judgment.
