रावणस्य अन्त्येष्टिः — Ravana’s Funeral Rites and the Ethics of Post-War Conduct
इत्येवमुच्यमानासासशब्दंप्ररुरोद ह ।।।।स्नापयन्तीतदास्रेणस्तनौवक्रंसुनिर्मलम् ।
ity evam ucyamānā sā saśabdaṁ praruroda ha |
snāpayantī tadāśreṇa stanau vakraṁ sunirmalam ||
Though thus counselled, she again burst into loud weeping, bathing her bosom and her fair, most pure face with tears.
While Mandodari was being counselled by the co wives like this, she was weeping, shedding tears on her breast as well as bathing her face. She once again wept making a loud sound.
Dharma does not deny grief; it permits mourning while guiding the community to offer support and restore order.
Despite being consoled, Mandodarī’s sorrow resurges and she cries loudly.
Authenticity of feeling—her grief is portrayed as real and human, not suppressed.
