रावणस्य अन्त्येष्टिः — Ravana’s Funeral Rites and the Ethics of Post-War Conduct

अप्रियामिवोपसंगृह्यकिंशेषेरणमेदिनीम् ।।।।अप्रियामिवकस्माच्छमांनेच्छस्यभिभाषितुम् ।

apriyām ivopasaṅgṛhya kiṁ śeṣe raṇamedinīm |

apriyām iva kasmāc cha māṁ necchasy abhibhāṣitum ||

Why do you lie upon the battlefield, embracing the earth as though it were a beloved? And why, as if I were no dear one to you, do you not wish to answer me?

"You are lying in the battlefield embracing it as if it is a loved one. Why are you not willing to answer me?"
