रावणस्य अन्त्येष्टिः — Ravana’s Funeral Rites and the Ethics of Post-War Conduct
मारीचकुम्भकर्णाभ्यांवाक्यंममपितुस्तथा ।न श्रुतंवीर्यमत्तेनतस्येदंफलमीदृशम् ।।।।
mārīca-kumbhakarṇābhyāṁ vākyaṁ mama pituś tathā | na śrutaṁ vīrya-mattena tasyedaṁ phalam īdṛśam ||
You did not heed the words of Mārīca and Kumbhakarṇa, nor likewise the counsel of my father; intoxicated by your valor, you ignored them—and this is the result of that.
"You did not take the advice of both Maricha and Kumbhakarna. You have also not taken the advice of my father because of the pride of your valour. This kind of result is the consequence of that."
Dharma warns against vīrya-mada (pride in power): arrogance that rejects counsel ripens into inevitable consequences (phala).
Mandodarī lists those who advised Rāvaṇa and frames his downfall as the fruit of ignoring them.
The implied virtue is restraint and humility—tempering strength with discernment.
