रावणस्य अन्त्येष्टिः — Ravana’s Funeral Rites and the Ethics of Post-War Conduct

दृप्तानांनिग्रहीतारमाविष्कृतपराक्रमम् ।।।।लोकक्षोभयितारं च नादैर्भूतविराविणम् ।

dṛptānāṃ nigrahītāram āviṣkṛtaparākramam | lokakṣobhayitāraṃ ca nādair bhūtavirāviṇam ||

The chastiser of the proud, whose prowess stood revealed; the disturber of the world, who by his roaring cries made beings wail.

"You are a subduer of the arrogant, who manifested prowess, who tormented the world, who made the world cry with insolent words."

R
Rāvaṇa
L
Loka (world)
B
Bhūtas (beings/creatures)

Intimidation and terror are not marks of Dharma. The verse implicitly contrasts fear-based dominance with the righteous authority that Rāma embodies.

Mandodarī continues listing Rāvaṇa’s fearsome qualities, intensifying the pathos of his fallen state.

Discernment: the verse invites reflection that ‘prowess’ without Dharma becomes destructive.
