Seeing heroic Lakṣmaṇa struck down in battle by the spear of the mighty Rāvaṇa and drenched in torrents of blood, Rāma—while waging a fierce fight against that wicked one and still releasing volleys of arrows—spoke these words to Suṣeṇa.
Seeing Lakshmana struck by exceedingly mighty, evil minded Ravana's javelin and soaked in blood Rama giving intense fight by discharging arrows also spoke as follows to Sushena.
Dharma as steadfast duty under grief: even when struck by personal loss, Rāma maintains righteous resolve and seeks proper aid (Suṣeṇa) rather than collapsing.
Lakṣmaṇa falls wounded by Rāvaṇa’s weapon; Rāma continues fighting while urgently turning to Suṣeṇa for help.
Rāma’s self-control and responsibility—balancing battlefield duty with immediate care for his brother.
