Then, amid Rāvaṇa’s torrents of arrows and the resounding twang of Rāma’s drawn bow, rākṣasas fell by the hundreds.
Then by Ravana's shafts and Sri Rama's stretching of the bow and sound of twang, Rakshasas fell in hundreds.
The verse underscores the grave consequences of war: when adharma escalates conflict, many perish. It implicitly calls for restraint and just cause as safeguards in righteous warfare.
As the exchange intensifies—Rāvaṇa’s arrow-storm and Rāma’s bow drawn with a thunderous twang—many rākṣasa fighters collapse in large numbers.
Rāma’s formidable martial competence, used in the service of restoring dharma rather than personal cruelty.
