अभिज्ञानवृत्तान्त-प्रत्यायनम् (Token of Recognition and the Crow–Brahmāstra Episode)
पुनः पुनरुपागम्य विददार भृशं किल।ततस्त्वं बोधितस्तस्याश्शोणितेन समुक्षितः।।।।
punaḥ punar upāgamya vidadāra bhṛśaṃ kila |
tatas tvaṃ bodhitas tasyāḥ śoṇitena samukṣitaḥ ||
Again and again it came near and violently tore at her; then you were awakened—splashed with her blood.
Again and again the crow came to her and scratched her. She woke you up as you were getting wet with blood shed from her body.
A reminder that harm to the innocent demands recognition and response; dharma begins with seeing suffering truthfully and not ignoring injury.
The crow repeatedly wounds Sītā; the blood awakens Rāma, setting the stage for his intervention in the remembered episode.
