There stands the city called Lanka, belonging to the evil-minded Ravana, situated on the southern shore of the ocean.

On hearing the words from Rama, the vanaras requested Hanuman who was aware of Sita's position to tell Rama all about her.

L
Lanka
R
Ravana
O
Ocean (Samudra)

Moral geography of itihāsa: Lanka is identified as Ravana’s domain, signaling the space where adharma has taken hold and where dharma must be restored.

Hanuman describes where Lanka lies—on the southern shore of the ocean—setting the strategic context for Rama’s approach.

Truthful precision in reporting—Hanuman provides clear situational intelligence for righteous action.
