दधिमुख-विज्ञापनम् / Dadhimukha Reports the Madhuvana Incident
ततः प्रहृष्टो धर्मात्मा लक्ष्मणस्सह राघवः।।।।श्रुत्वा कर्णसुखां वाणीं सुग्रीववदनाच्च्युताम्।प्राहृष्यत भृशं रामो लक्ष्मणश्च महाबलः।।।।
sa tu viśvāsitas tena sugrīveṇa mahātmanā |
utthāya sumahāprājño vākyaṃ dadhimukho ’bravīt ||
Reassured by the great-souled Sugrīva, the very wise Dadhimukha rose and spoke these words.
"Then righteous Rama and Lakshmana rejoiced to hear the words of Sugriva, which were pleasing to the ears.
Dharma here highlights responsible leadership: a ruler reassures a subordinate so that truthful reporting and duty can proceed without fear.
At Kiṣkindhā, Dadhimukha—guardian of Madhuvana—has approached Sugrīva; after being reassured, he begins his report.
Sugrīva’s steadiness and Dadhimukha’s disciplined duty—speaking only after proper assurance and protocol.
