Shloka 5.63.16
दधिमुख-विज्ञापनम् / Dadhimukha Reports the Madhuvana Incident
नैषामकृत्यानामीदृशस्स्यादुपक्रमः।।5.63.15।।आगतैश्च प्रमथितं यथा मधुवनं हि तैः।धर्षितं च वनं कृत्स्नमुपयुक्तं च वानरैः।।5.63.16।।
naiṣām akṛtyānām īdṛśaḥ syād upakramaḥ ||
Such conduct would not be found in them if their purpose had not been accomplished.
"Those vanaras having entered Madhuvanam and broken the trees are quite right. Had they not accomplished their purpose they would not have indulged themselves that way.
Dharma includes judging actions with discernment: certain freedoms are taken only after duty is fulfilled; conduct can indicate success and truth.
Hearing of the vānaras’ bold behavior, Lakṣmaṇa infers they must have completed their mission.
Lakṣmaṇa’s practical wisdom—he reasons from evidence rather than panic or rumor.
