मधुवनभङ्गः — The Disruption of Madhuvana and Dadhimukha’s Complaint
वृक्षस्थांश्च तलस्थांश्च वानरान् बलदर्पितान्।अभ्यक्रामंस्ततो वीराः पालास्तत्र सहस्रशः।।5.62.24।।
vṛkṣasthāṃś ca talasthāṃś ca vānarān baladarpitān |
abhyakrāmaṃs tato vīrāḥ pālās tatra sahasraśaḥ ||5.62.24||
Then, in their thousands, the heroic guards attacked those vanaras—proud of their strength—whether they stood upon the trees or on the ground beneath them.
Then the heroic guards in their thousands fell on the vanaras proud of their power on and under the tala trees.
Role-dharma: the guards act according to their duty to protect what they are appointed to guard, even against powerful intruders.
The guards mobilize in large numbers and engage the vanaras positioned both above and below the trees.
Vigilance and steadfastness in service—protective duty performed collectively and promptly.
