अङ्गदवाक्यम्—सीताहरण-प्रतिवेदन-धर्मविचारः (Angada’s Counsel on Reporting Without Sita)
दृष्टा देवी न चानीता इति तत्र निवेदनम्।।।।अयुक्तमिव पश्यामि भवद्भिः ख्यातविक्रमैः।
dṛṣṭā devī na cānītā iti tatra nivedanam |
ayuktam iva paśyāmi bhavadbhiḥ khyātavikramaiḥ ||
“To report there, ‘The Lady was seen, but not brought back’—I regard that as improper for you, famed as you are for valor.”
"O vanaras, you are known for your valour. I think, to tell Rama that we have seen Sita but not brought her is not proper".
Dharma demands integrity in action: one should not settle for an excuse framed as a report when greater, feasible help is owed to the afflicted.
Aṅgada presses the group, arguing that returning with only information (not Sītā) fails the mission’s moral purpose.
High standards (ātma-garima) and commitment to results aligned with righteousness.
