“O Sītā, that copper-faced monkey who spoke with you—he is now being led around with his tail set on fire.”

"O Sita! the red-faced monkey who conversed with you is being paraded in the streets with his tail set on fire".

S
Sītā
H
Hanumān
L
lāṅgūla (tail)

The verse sets up a dharmic response: hearing of another’s suffering, the righteous heart (Sītā) responds with protective prayer rather than despair or hatred.

Sītā is informed that Hanumān, who had met her, is being paraded through Laṅkā with his tail burning.

Sītā’s gratitude and concern for a benefactor—she immediately turns toward protecting Hanumān.
