Shloka 5.48.1
इन्द्रजित्प्रेषणम्—ब्रह्मास्त्रबन्धः, हनूमद्ग्रहणं, रावणसभाप्रवेशः (Indrajit’s Deployment—Brahmāstra Binding, Hanuman’s Capture, Entry into Ravana’s Court)
ततस्तु रक्षोधिपतिर्महात्मा हनूमताक्षे निहते कुमारे।मनस्समाधाय सदेवकल्पं समादिदेशेन्द्रजितं सरोषः।।।।
tatastu rakṣodhipatir mahātmā hanūmatākṣe nihate kumāre |
manas samādhāya sadevakalpaṃ samādideśendrajitaṃ saroṣaḥ ||5.48.1||
Then the lord of rākṣasas, great in power—angered at Prince Akṣa being slain by Hanumān—composed his mind and commanded Indrajit, who was like a god.
Thereafter the great demon king, mighty angry at the death of Aksha in the hands of Hanuman, controlled his feeling and ordered Indrajit who was like a godhead.
Even amid grief and anger, effective leadership requires mental control; the verse highlights the discipline of restraining krodha to act strategically—an ethical lesson about governance and responsibility.
After Hanumān kills Akṣa, Rāvaṇa becomes furious but steadies himself and sends his most formidable son, Indrajit, to deal with Hanumān.
Self-control under provocation (manas-samādhāna), shown by Rāvaṇa as a tactical virtue, even though his larger cause remains adharmic.
