अक्षवधः (The Slaying of Prince Aksha) — Sundarakāṇḍa Sarga 47
स जातमन्युः प्रसमीक्ष्य विक्रमं स्थिरं स्थिरस्सम्यति दुर्निवारणम्।समाहितात्मा हनुमन्तमाहवे प्रचोदयामास शरैस्त्रिभि श्शितैः।।5.47.10।।
sa jātamanyuḥ prasamīkṣya vikramaṁ sthiraṁ sthiraḥ saṁyati durnivāraṇam |
samāhitātmā hanumantam āhave pracodayāmāsa śarais tribhiḥ śitaiḥ || 5.47.10 ||
Recognizing Hanuman’s steady and irresistible prowess in battle, Aksha grew angry; composed and focused, he challenged him in combat and loosed three sharp arrows.
Knowing that it is difficult to win Hanuman who was steady and of irresistible valour Aksha was angry. Remaining steady, with full attention, he provoked the vanara to fight and released three sharp arrows.
Dharma in battle includes disciplined focus (samāhita-ātmā): even when anger rises, action should be controlled and deliberate rather than chaotic.
Akṣa enters the fight against Hanumān, gauges his strength, then initiates combat by firing three arrows.
Concentration and martial discipline—Akṣa acts with focus despite anger.
