Shloka 5.45.5
मन्त्रिणां सुतयुद्धम् — Battle with the Sons of the Ministers
जनन्यस्तु ततस्तेषां विदित्वा किङ्करान्हतान्।बभूवुश्शोकसम्भ्रान्तास्सबान्धवसुहृज्जनाः।।।।
sṛjanto bāṇa-vṛṣṭiṃ te ratha-garjita-nisvanāḥ |
vṛṣṭimanta ivāmbhodā vicerur naiṛtāmbudāḥ ||
With the roar and rumble of their chariots, they moved about like rain-laden stormclouds—those demon ‘clouds’—pouring down a shower of arrows.
Their mothers and relatives and their friends were struck with grief when they learnt about the kinkaras killed.
The verse warns that overwhelming force can be theatrically impressive yet morally empty. Dharma evaluates not the ‘storm’ of power but its purpose—whether it protects truth (satya) and righteousness.
The demon warriors maneuver in chariots and unleash a dense volley of arrows toward Hanumān, described through the simile of thunderclouds releasing rain.
By contrast, Hanumān’s fearlessness is implied: even a ‘storm’ of arrows is framed as something he will endure and overcome in service of his righteous mission.
