हनूमत्सीतासंवादः — Hanuman’s Offer of Rescue and Sita’s Dharmic Refusal
ह्रियमाणां तु मां दृष्ट्वा राक्षसा भीमविक्रमाः।अनुगच्छेयुरादिष्टा रावणेन दुरात्मना।।।।
hriyamāṇāṃ tu māṃ dṛṣṭvā rākṣasā bhīmavikramāḥ | anugaccheyur ādiṣṭā rāvaṇena durātmanā ||
If the rākṣasas of dreadful prowess see me being carried away, they will pursue you—acting under the orders of the wicked-minded Rāvaṇa.
"When I am seen (while being carried away) by the demons of fearsome valour they will pursue you, ordered by the wicked Ravana.
Responsible action: Sītā considers consequences before accepting rescue. Dharma here is prudence—avoiding a course that would trigger violence and endanger the rescuer and herself.
In Laṅkā, after meeting Hanumān, Sītā weighs whether an immediate escape is feasible; she foresees pursuit by rākṣasas on Rāvaṇa’s command.
Sītā’s foresight and moral caution—she does not act impulsively even when freedom is offered.
