Shloka 5.36.21

सीताप्रत्यय-प्रदानम् (Sita’s Recognition and Reassurance by the Envoy)

सुखानामुचितो नित्यमसुखानामनौचितः।दुःखमुत्तरमासाद्य कच्चिद्रामो न सीदति।।।।

sukhānām ucito nityam asukhānām anaucitaḥ | duḥkham uttaram āsādya kaccid rāmo na sīdati ||

Rāma is ever worthy of happiness and not of suffering. Though met with yet more sorrow, may he not have sunk into despair.

"I hope Rama who deserves happiness and not suffering has not become depressed now , having experienced a spate of sorrows.

Dharma requires steadiness under suffering: even when grief increases, one must not abandon righteous resolve.

Sītā worries that repeated bad news and hardships may have overwhelmed Rāma emotionally.

Rāma’s expected fortitude (dhairya) and Sītā’s compassionate concern for his inner state.
