रामलक्षणवर्णनम् (Description of Rama and Lakshmana; Alliance Narrative to Sita)
त्वामेव मार्गमाणौ तौ विचरन्तौ वसुन्धराम्।ददर्शतुर्मृगपतिं पूर्वजेनावरोपितम्।।5.35.24।।ऋश्यमूकस्य पृष्ठे तु बहुपादपसङ्कुले।भ्रातुर्भयार्तमासीनं सुग्रीवं प्रियदर्शनम्।।5.35.25।।
tvām eva mārgamāṇau tau vicarantau vasundharām |
dadarśatur mṛgapatiṃ pūrvajenāvaropitam ||5.35.24||
While the two of them roamed the earth searching for you, they beheld Sugrīva—the lord among the animals—cast down from his position by his elder brother.
"While both of them were wandering, searching for you all over the earth they saw Sugriva, the lord of animals who had been thrown out of kingship by his elder brother and was living on the mountain Rshyamuka frightened of him.
Dharma is framed as steadfast effort in a righteous search, and as moral concern over unjust displacement from rightful station (a wrong done by the elder brother).
Hanumān narrates how Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa, while searching for Sītā, encountered Sugrīva, who had been driven from power by his elder brother.
Perseverance and purpose: the princes continue their duty-bound search across the earth without abandoning hope.
