सीताहनूमद्भाषणम् — Sita Tests the Messenger; Hanuman Offers Reassurance
मायां प्रविष्टो मायावी यदि त्वं रावणस्स्वयम्।।।।उत्पादयसि मे भूयस्सन्तापं तन्न शोभनम्।
māyāṃ praviṣṭo māyāvī yadi tvaṃ rāvaṇaḥ svayam |
utpādayasi me bhūyaḥ santāpaṃ tan na śobhanam |
If you are Rāvaṇa himself, that deceiver who has entered here through illusion and disguise, you are stirring up my anguish again—this is not fitting.
"If you are that trickster Ravana who appears incognito before me, it is not good for you. You are causing grief again.
Dharma rejects deceit and needless cruelty; Sītā condemns causing suffering through trickery as ‘not fitting’ conduct.
Sītā warns the visitor: if he is Rāvaṇa using disguise, then tormenting her again is improper.
Sītā’s moral clarity and courage to speak against adharma even while vulnerable.
