Hearing her words—she who was overwhelmed by grief—Hanumān, foremost among the monkeys, himself pained, replied with words meant to comfort.

Hearing the words of Sita who was overwhelmed with grief, the monkey leader Hanuman felt sad and thus spoke comforting her:

H
Hanumān

Compassionate speech (sāntvana) is presented as dharma in action: responding to suffering with empathy and truthful reassurance.

After Sītā’s fearful words, Hanumān begins to answer gently, aiming to calm her and establish trust.

Hanumān’s karuṇā (compassion) and seva-bhāva (service-minded devotion) are emphasized.
